BGirl FlowRaw: Redefining Strength, Style, and Spirit in Indian Breaking

In a dance form that demands both physical grit and artistic precision, BGirl FlowRaw, real name Deepa Santosh Singh, has carved out a place that’s entirely her own. Hailing from Bhayander, Maharashtra, she’s not just another breaker on the floor. She’s one of India’s finest female b-girls, known for her fluid style, technical mastery, and fearless approach to breaking. Her journey from neighborhood battles to representing India on international stages is nothing short of inspiring.

Deepa’s story began with quiet defiance. “It was tough in the beginning,” she says. “My family was never truly happy with my decision. They wanted me to study, work, and come home on time.” But dance has a way of breaking boundaries, both personal and societal. Over time, her family’s initial resistance turned into pride as they saw her featured in articles, advertisements, and finally, representing India on a global platform. “When I became one of the first from my bloodline to travel to Germany, my mom stood by me through thick and thin,” she recalls.
Her passion took shape under the mentorship of some of the country’s most respected breakers, including Bboy Example, Bboy RawR, Bboy D2, and Bboy Zap. Among them, Sagar Rawat, known as Bboy RawR from GoodWin Crew in Delhi, had a particularly profound impact. “He guided me even though he was miles away in Delhi,” Deepa shares. “We’d have video call sessions, and he would send me tutorials. He’s been my biggest support and teacher.”
FlowRaw’s dance identity lives up to her name. Her moves are characterized by an effortless flow intertwined with complex techniques, giving her a style that’s both elegant and powerful. “My style is unique amongst all the b-girls; it’s more about flows and techniques,” she explains. “I’m more known for my style.”

Her accolades are proof of her dedication. Deepa has represented India at Queen’16 in Germany, stood as the Red Bull BC One B-Girl Runner-Up in 2019, and won titles like Steez’O 1-on-1 B-Girl Winner 2021 and Essence 1-on-1 B-Girl Winner 2022, among others. Each title marks a milestone in her journey, but for her, the true victory lies in persistence.
“Breaking is not an easy dance form,” she says. “But besides that, I believe in learning new skills and completing your studies. If you love what you do, go all out for it without worrying about the outcome. Just be pure with your intentions.”
FlowRaw is part of Smokin Skillz Crew and GoodWin Crew, collectives that represent the raw, underground heart of India’s hip-hop movement. For her, these crews are more than just teams; they’re family. “Whatever time I get after work, I train with my friends. Smokin Skillz and GoodWin are like my family,” she says.
When asked what “Sound of the Streets” means to her, her answer carries the weight of experience: “It means the people who came from the streets, survived, and made it by giving everything they had. They created their own names so the next crowd would know their voice and never give up on what they love.”

BGirl FlowRaw stands today as one of the leading female voices in India’s breaking scene, not just because of her titles, but because of her authenticity, resilience, and commitment to the culture. Her story is a reminder that true power doesn’t come from perfection; it comes from persistence. And for Deepa Singh, the rhythm of that power will always live in the sound of the streets.
