Daira Releases ‘Talwaar’ A Bold Audio-Visual Satire on Power, Freedom & Hero Worship

Mumbai-based art-rock band Daira is back with their most powerful release yet “Talwaar”, a hard-hitting satirical audio-visual single that questions blind hero worship and the dangers of unchecked power. Known for breaking musical and cultural boundaries, Daira continues their fearless journey of experimentation with this bold new track.

Musically rooted in groovy basslines, sharp vocals, and socially conscious lyrics, Talwaar explores the emotional and societal consequences of surrendering one’s individuality in exchange for security. The track is led by vocalist and lyricist Piyush Kapoor, who explains that the song aims to shine a light on how idolizing power can slowly destroy self-worth and freedom.

The official music video, directed by Barun Kashyap, uses comic book-inspired visuals and superhero metaphors to tell the story through the eyes of a young boy. The fictional characters “Carrotman” and “Carrotwoman” symbolize how oppressive cycles often begin within families making Talwaar not just a song, but a mirror to our society.

The video’s surreal yet relatable narrative aligns perfectly with Daira’s ethos of pushing creative boundaries. With strong contributions from band members Shivam Pant, Pratyay Mishra, Aditya Ahir, and Aditya Ranga, and mixed by Rex Vijayan, Talwaar stands out as a sonic and visual statement.

Whether you’re into Indian alternative rock, progressive music, or songs that make you think, Talwaar by Daira is a must-watch, must-hear experience.
