Shilpa Rao Draws One of Her Largest-Ever Audiences at Falcon Festival 2025 in Umrangso

National Award–winning singer Shilpa Rao delivered a landmark performance at Falcon Festival 2025 in Umrangso, drawing one of the biggest live crowds of her celebrated career. Held amid the stunning Dima Hasao hills, the festival offered a spectacular setting for what became one of the most emotionally charged concerts of the year. For Shilpa, who has performed across the country and abroad, the night stood out as a powerful testament to her enduring bond with listeners.
Visiting Umrangso for the first time, Shilpa was welcomed with extraordinary enthusiasm. The crowd a mix of locals, travellers and campers filled the venue to capacity long before her set began, chanting “Shilpa jaldi aao” in anticipation. Once she stepped on stage, the energy surged, turning the performance into a chorus of thousands singing together under the open sky.

Tracks like Barbaad, Besharam Rang, and Bulleya became communal moments as fans echoed every line with flawless unity. The hills themselves seemed to vibrate with the voices of the audience, amplifying Shilpa’s emotional delivery. It was a rare musical experience where artist and audience felt completely intertwined.
Reflecting on the night, Shilpa shared,
“This was our first trip to Umrangso, and while I’ve performed in Assam many times, this place was truly special. It’s pure, it’s clean, and the scenic beauty of the Dima Hasao hills is breathtaking. Singing here was absolutely sublime a mix of locals and people travelling from outside, some camping, all singing together. When they sang Barbaad, Besharam Rang and Bulleya with me, it felt like the entire hills were reverberating with my songs. I’m leaving a part of my heart here, and I truly hope we come back again.”
Falcon Festival, known for its blend of cultural identity, ecological awareness and contemporary music, has grown into one of India’s most distinctive community‑driven gatherings. With a strong focus on sustainability and the conservation of the migratory Amur Falcon, it places Umrangso on the national cultural map and Shilpa Rao’s widely attended performance further cemented its rising status.
Her appearance not only elevated the festival’s stature but also spotlighted the region’s natural beauty, community warmth and growing musical ecosystem. Falcon Festival 2025 will be remembered as a milestone both for Shilpa Rao and for the cultural landscape of Assam.
