PM Modi Praises Rapper Hanumankind’s Song “Run It Up” in Mann Ki Baat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Indian rapper Hanumankind for his new song, “Run It Up,” in the 120th episode of his radio show Mann Ki Baat. PM Modi stated that he was pleased with the inclusion of Indian martial arts such as Kalaripayattu, Gatka, and Thang-Ta in the song. He commented that the incorporation of traditional Indian games and practices into contemporary culture was positive.

Hanumankind hails from Kerala and goes by the name Sooraj Cherukat. He has lived in numerous nations, including Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, and the United States. His album Kalari, released in 2019, marked the beginning of his musical career. With over 220 million views on YouTube and 400 million streams on Spotify, his song “Big Dawgs” became a worldwide hit. 

His most recent song, “Run It Up,” which came out on March 7, 2025, has already received over 27 million views. The song was also praised by the Ministry of Culture, which described it as a “chest-thumping tribute” to Indian martial arts.
