Vidhya Gopal Drops ‘Moko Kahan’ Kabir’s Poetry Meets Soulful Indian Classical Vibes

Mumbai-based independent vocalist and composer Vidhya Gopal just released her highly anticipated new single “Moko Kahan” on May 23, 2025. The track is the first offering from her upcoming live album, Vidhya Gopal’s Mehfil, a deeply personal project that blends Indian classical music with a contemporary edge.

“Moko Kahan” is a meditative and spiritual interpretation of Sant Kabir’s timeless poetry, composed by Vidhya alongside digV. The track reflects on the divine’s omnipresence and invites listeners to explore the presence of God within ourselves and our surroundings. With soul-stirring vocals, emotional depth, and live instrumentation, the track delivers a soothing yet thought-provoking musical experience.

Recorded live at Veda Chaubara in Versova, the album captures the raw intimacy of a live mehfil-style performance, blending thumri, folk, bandish, and poetic storytelling. Vidhya’s expressive vocals are supported by a talented ensemble featuring harmonium, keys, tabla, guitar, bass, and percussion.

Speaking about the project, Vidhya says, “With this album, I wanted to reimagine Indian semi-classical music in a way that feels both timeless and alive today. I hope listeners feel like they’ve been invited into a living room of song, story, and shared emotion.”

Two more singles from the album are set to release in June, followed by the full album drop in July.
