Hip-Hop Madness: Dahisar and Borivali Cypher Groups Light Up Mumbai

Hip-hop culture is growing fast in India, and the energy was on full display last Saturday in Dahisar East, Mumbai. Dahisar Cypher and Borivali Cypher, two local cypher groups, gathered for an unforgettable event at the Jankalyan Building, which is close to Dahisar Metro Station.
A cypher is when rappers stand in a circle and freestyle over a beat in hip-hop. It’s a true test of talent, creativity, and passion. This event demonstrated that hip-hop is deeply rooted in India.

Over one hundred artists came from Surat, Govandi, Virar, and other places. The vibe was electric. Due to limited time, some artists were unable to perform, but the spirit of unity and passion persisted throughout the evening.
The event was organized by two young and passionate individuals, Sidhya and G Aana, who showed how dedication can bring people together. No big sponsors, no fancy stage — just pure love for the art and the community.
This event further demonstrates that hip-hop is more than just music; it is also a movement. In India and around the world, more and more young people are picking up the mic to tell their stories, express their struggles, and celebrate their roots.

The Dahisar and Borivali Cypher Groups are motivating a new generation of musicians to pursue their goals and preserve hip-hop. And have faith in us: this is only the beginning!
